Pakistan: Are They Our Leader Or Criminals?

Criminals of Pakistan

By Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD. (Opinion Maker)

Leaders with No accountability and No Shame

Pakistan is in ruins. The nation and its imagery, law and justice, commerce, thinking hubs, political governance all appear dysfunctional and self-contradictory. Eroding freedom of thoughts and action speaks of missing accountability of political elite. The nation is fast becoming victim of a US planned blue-print being used in Iraq. Vengeful sectarian killings and dismantling of economic, political and moral infrastructures to incapacitate the nation by its own sadistic rulers. All fighting against all to end the very existence by collective madness. The paid Pakistani political and security agents are instrumental in carrying out heinous crimes. Increasingly and without any logical redress, common citizens are the targeted aim of the political cruelty. No wonder, once conditions favorable to cruelty are established, it spreads like frightening wildfire. The governance demonstrates dead-ended political conscience of the interest of the people. After decade-old American entrapment in the bogus war on terrorism, the country has lost the energies and capacity to deal with any major problems of security and national unity. The foreign agenda is focused on breaking the moral and spiritual lifelines of the Pakistani nation by its own agents of influence. There are no brave and proactive politicians to stop the continuing political stagnation. The nation faces colossal disaster day in and day out but nobody is held accountable for the crimes. The Generals are convenient spectators and Nawaz Sharif is happy, the herd is politically manageable to complete his inherently fraudulent term of office as prime minister.

Pakistani Leaders Are MenaceDaily blood baths of civilians go unabated adding to statistical record for lack of adequate security. The latest cold blooded murder of 55 innocent people at Wagha border and 100 or so injured adds nothing new to grieving citizens belief that Pakistan is governed by most inept, incompetent and corrupt people ever witnessed by an informed nation. No politicians assume responsibility for the protection and safeguard of life and property of ordinary Pakistanis. There is obvious disconnect between the people and the political rulers constantly hated and feared by the masses. The conflicting time zones are widening in which ordinary people suffer versus the ruling elite breathe as daily civilian casualties continued to rise because of the Taliban attacks and targeted massacres of the ordinary citizens. Who is a failure and who should be held accountability? Is the Pakistani security apparatus so incompetent and ill equipped that it cannot ensure public safety? Given the lack of accountability and lack of shame, there is nothing to prevent these political criminals from repeating their crimes. So the killings of the innocent civilians go unabated. Strange as is, opposition activists raising voices against the Sharif regime are conveniently arrested and jailed but not the Sharif brethren who kill the citizens at random and implement planned massacres. Those facilitating crimes against the people occupy positions of political leadership and even law and justice cannot question them – abetted by the political class, committed the greatest heist in history.

Little Angels Attacked by Devils in Peshawar-Pakistan

Posted by yourpakistan on December 20, 2014

Little-Angels of Pakistan-Attacked-by-Devils-in-Peshawar

16th December 1971 – Pakistan was stabbed in the back by its enemies with the help of Mukti Bahini and once again on December 16, the nation gets stabbed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan; the handlers in both cases being the same, those who never accepted Pakistan as a sovereign country.

A bloody Taliban raid on an army-run school in Peshawar ended last night. According to sources, 9 attackers were killed, 3 soldiers martyred and 7 special security personnel sustained injuries during the operation. The assault on the school martyred at least 145 people and injured 114, majority of them children.

SSG’s Zarrar Company commandos were air lifted to Peshawar from Tarbela via helicopters. The soldiers went block by block and room by room to clear the building, starting from the Principal’s office. The terrorists were wearing suicide vests, most of them blew themselves during the operation. The ISPR says that all the four blocks of the school have been cleared by security forces.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan accepted the responsibility for the attack, saying they had ordered the target killers and suicide attackers to shoot the older students but not the small children.

The students saved by the security forces later told that the militants were speaking Arabic and children were killed at point blank range. Students added that the attackers came from the backside of the school building. First they opened aerial fire and later started targeting students. Read the rest of this entry »

From Kabul to Wagha to Dehli: A Plot for #Terror Consortium

Posted by yourpakistan on November 15, 2014

After a lull of a few months, the country was once again rocked by a deadly explosion on November 2nd, at the border village of Wagah. The target of the attack was the border post closing ceremony, held routinely at the only land crossing between Pakistan and India. This was not the first targeted terror attack since the commencement of the military operation in North Waziristan but the most deadly, nonetheless, as regards the number of civilian casualties incurred.

Wagah Border Terrorist Attack

The attack in which 62 people lost their lives and around 200 got injured occurred on the 8th of Muharram – a time when the security arrangements across the country are beefed up generally, due to sensitivity of the Ashura days of the holy month of Muharram. The attacks that occur during Muharram are customarily sectarian in nature but in case of the Wagah attack, no sectarian link was established or claimed.

Three different militant outfits claimed responsibility for the attack, the first being Jundullah; soon afterwards, the TTP splinter group, Jamat-ul-Ahrar and later a lesser known outfit called the Mahar Mehsud group accepted responsibility. It is interesting to point out that it is not the first time that the responsibility for a terror attack was claimed by two or more different terrorist organizations. Most terrorist outfits are merely names to achieve different ends. The assertion over terrorist activities serves many different purposes for these militant organizations. It can be a recruitment gambit to attract or engage new members and/or to avoid backlash from sympathizers that are ever present within our society.

As far as the Jundullah is concerned, it has often represented the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in the past, especially the Mohmand faction of the TTP, that has now splintered to form the TTP Jamat-ul-Ahrar (TTPJuA), headed by Omer Khalid khorasani. These two groups are similar in the sense that they have same ideology, goals, involvement in targeted sectarian activities and have close ties with the Al-Qaeda. They have simultaneously accepted responsibility for terror attacks previously also, such as in the case of  the ISI-Sukkur headquarter attack, the Peshawar church blast and the Gilgit tourist killings, to name a few. Pakistan’s Emerging Democracy or Hall of Shame

Posted by yourpakistan on September 5, 2014

PTI people & leadership protesting in front of Pakistan Parliament in Islamabad

By Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD. / Opinion Maker

The nation’s capital is under siege for over two weeks. People want political change and justice to their grievances that is nowhere to be seen. The demonstrators are not hired agitators but real people standing for hard core moral principles and democratic values. Islamabad depicts chaos, extreme insecurity and frightening trend of political mismanagement and failed governance. PM Sharif was already on a life support system of his own making. Now, the oxygen tank is fast running out of the life maintaining system. Nawaz Sharif  has lost sense of direction and political maturity to see the mirror and to resign from the powerhouse gained by rigging the 2013 elections. Undoubtedly, Sharif lives in a matrix of lies. He does not have the courage to encounter a truthful statement. Informed Pakistani masses can tell the difference between the truth and a lie. The millions Freedom March to Islamabad is self-evident of this public awareness.

According to the DAWN news media report of 1st September, 3 political activists were killed and 450 demonstrators wounded by the police action. In a knowledge-based 21st century age of reason and people’s rights, the people are met by brutal force to change their thinking and motives for political change.

A reality check filters out the truth that Pakistan’s democracy faces formidable turbulent challenges even at its infancy without moving forward. When elections were held in May 2013, it signaled a glimpse of a proactive change-making impulse away from the four military coups’ previously consumed precious time and opportunities to bulldoze the imperatives of systematic political change to take roots on its own. Conscientious new generations of educated and intelligent Pakistanis look for hope and are desperate to evolve a system of institutionalized political change to ensure protection of human rights, freedom and dignity and respect for law and justice and a sustainable future. Not so, the traditional elite comprising of the old feudal lords and most being the by-products of military coups are tantamount to dispel any signs of freedom and human dignity out of the box. At stake is the integrity of Pakistan and its future under the old echelons of the few thugs and political conspirators.

Those who sabotaged the political change process include the Bhuttos, Zardari, Sharif and few infamous Generals producing the junk history. The so called politicians have stolen few adhesive labels from the contemporary history to claim political parties: The Muslim League (N), The Muslim League (Q) The Muslim League ( H), The PPP, The National Awami Party, The MQM and lot more. Analyzing critically, these turn out to be just titles, names and fake images carved out by individuals and small vested interest groups who could not find a place in people’s thoughts and inspiration for the good of Pakistan. Across the Pakistani public mind, they are no more than transitory migrating birds that come to grab political powers through intrigues and backdoor conspiracies and in some case with foreign powers keen to make Pakistan a satellite for their own strategic priorities. All rational calculations point out to a new people’s spirit and movement demanding peaceful political manifestation for the good of the country.

Pakistani nation faces many critical perils in its search for a peaceful democratic future. Read the rest of this entry »

Wave of Revolution and Pak Army

Posted by yourpakistan on August 29, 2014

Role of Pak Army in Political Crisis

By Maheen Akhtar / Opinion Maker

Since PMLN made its government after winning the most controversial elections in the history of Pakistan the Party members started a campaign on the very next day that everybody should work to strengthen the democracy in Pakistan. In last government of PPP Pakistan Army joined hands with the civil government to work for the democracy but that government was failed to achieve the targets they set before elections e.g. basic necessities of life and also the promises they made. When PMLN came into government they also promised to bring a revolutionary change but that came just in dreams. People of Pakistan had too many expectations that the new government will take some good steps but nothing was done in their favor and as a result of that people started protests against them and opposition parties launched a proper campaign against the sitting government.

Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek started protests in several cities against the wrong steps and misuse of public money. Pakistan tehreek.e.Insaaf is the victim of the May, 2013 elections and they claim that they lost almost 35 seats. Nationwide rallies were conducted and huge number of supporters gathered to support the cause and to bring down the government. Government kept on saying that the deep state is trying to bring down their government but reality is different from that. All the members of PMLN used media and gave statements against the Army and Intelligence agencies that they are trying to impose Marshal Law but military leadership extended full support to the civil government. Load shedding, Inflation, CNG issue, Election rigging and high rate of religious extremism were the issues that PMLN was unable to solve and without bothering about them they kept on visiting the foreign countries in public money. Pakistan Army was deployed in Islamabad under the article 245 to control the security situation of Capital City. Read the rest of this entry »

Zarb-e Azb: A National Aspiration

Posted by yourpakistan on June 30, 2014

Zarb e Azb Pakistan Army Initiative Against Terrorists

By Raja G Mujtaba – Opinion Maker

Pre 9/11 the terrorist activities were not politically motivated but were funded by foreign powers so that Pakistan would be internally weakened enough to give up its support and demand for Kashmir and would not extend any support to Afghan Mujaheddin who were fighting Soviet Union in Afghanistan. But at that time the terrorist activities were not so frequent or destructive as compared to the one being carried out currently.

The hallmark of 9/11 has shaped up a different world. The US made Pakistan to succumb to its pressure and support her invading forces to dismantle Taliban government who for all known reasons had not yielded to the US pressure in granting them the oil pipeline contract to ONCOL instead were inclined towards Argentina who had offered much lower prices for the same project.
The US groomed India as her successor in Afghanistan and gave her a free hand in that region; The US also awarded to them some huge contracts in order to sustain and carry out their agenda. This all provided a vast margin for India to spread an arc of consulates along Pak-Afghan border from where it carried out all nefarious activities in Pakistan. This fact was confessed not only by Manmohan Singh in Sharmal sheikh but was also revealed by Chuck Haggle before becoming Secretary Of Deference in his statement that India is playing as a funding hand for the terrorist activities in Balochistan and FATA.

Moreover, the reality of United States was fully exposed when Raymond Davis surfaced and killed two Pakistani citizens in Lahore. Incidentally Raymond’s release was also brokered by Mian Nawaz Sharif against the popular sentiments of the people of Pakistan.
During the election campaigns, both PML-N and PTI were supportive of dialogue with the terrorists (TTP). It may be deemed as the reason that PML-N rallies or candidates were never attacked during the election campaigns though PTI suffered a couple of hits; however it maybe because they wanted Imran Khan to firm up his support for them.

Gradually the terrorist activities picked up pace to an extent that nearly five to six suicide attacks were being carried out on a regular basis. They were targeting random people and places; however it was observed that mostly Mosques, Churches, Imambarghas, Military installations were being were mostly attacked and damaged. As a community, the Hazara Shias paid a very heavy price and there was no respite. The previous government of Asif Zardari was not moved by all these devastating events and his Interior Minister Rahman Malik became one of the most detested official figures of all; as it is also been said that he was the one who granted blanket visas to Black Water etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Pakistan Army Operation Zarb-e-Azb Againts TTP Developments

Posted by yourpakistan on June 21, 2014

The Miranshah Tehsil remained on the military radar on the sixth day of the counter insurgency operation. So far 232 militants have been killed and 20 hideouts have been pummeled by the security forces.

A substantial number of IDP’s reached Bannu today after the three days relaxation in curfew by the authorities. The thorough vetting of IDP by military personnel resulted in the arrest of 24 suspected militants when they tried to flee with other civilians at the various check posts of Mir Ali and Miranshah. Three locals were also apprehended when they failed to prove their identities.

Pro Pakistan Waziristan Tribal Leaders

At least 12 militants, including foreigners were killed today in the Army Aviation Corps strikes in Qutub Khel area of Miranshah. The military officials allege that a huge cache of weaponry was also destroyed. The artillery was also used to target militant hideouts at a considerable distance.

TTP splinter group led by an influential commander, Abid Mucharr was also raided by Sindh Rangers in Mangophir, Karachi. The ensuing standoff left two terrorists dead and two security personnel injured. A shrine in federal capital has also been bombed by the militants, resulting in the injury of 40 devotees, according to media reports.

A large number of people migrated towards the safer areas, on the third and last day of curfew relaxation by the political authorities. The transportation of civilian evacuees from the operation affected areas of North Waziristan to Bannu under the security of armed forces jammed the connecting road, which was eventually cleared by evening.

Till now 200,000 persons have been evacuated from the area, as per the figures presented by authorities. The statistical figures further claimed that around 400 Afghan families have already left North Waziristan Agency for Afghanistan through the border village of Ghulam Khan Tehsil.

The staff on check points has also been increased to expedite the process of registration. The mobile vans of National Database & Registration Authorities have also been stationed for the facilitation purpose at IDP registration points.

Pakistan Army North Waziristan Operation

Counter Terrorism: Confusing the Nation’s Conscience

Posted by yourpakistan on June 7, 2014

Military is clear about their role, “counter the militants of TTP in battle field”. What about civil society? Are they ready to counter them in their homes, streets and markets?

Pakistan Counter Terrorism Policy
Written by Salman Javed

Narratives, both in favor and against the talks and its speculative outcomes have been put forward by intelligentsia, strategic and security experts.

Later, apparently a belligerent message was given to the premier of Pakistan by the COAS:“time for the peace talks is over”. Why is the Army concerned about the operation? And what is its strategic implication, is another topic to be discussed under a different heading. The purpose of this piece is to highlight the clash of narratives that our society and nation is facing today.

Fact of the day is that there is a time line, which illustrates that TTP has never ceased its activities against the Armed Forces of and the general public of Pakistan. Mohmand Faction’s statements and the activities of Ahrar ul Hind, a shadowy group of TTP have made headlines during the peace talks. And at the same time, Fazlulah, the so called TTP Amir, never made a clear statement about the peace talks.

It seems Peace was never on their agenda!

However, recent developments nailed the coffin of these peace talks shut, when attacks from across the border were carried out on Pakistani check posts by TTP factions. The TTP has also claimed responsibility for several attacks on security personals inside Pakistan. The recent attack in Fateh Jang is one such example.

The dichotomy in the narrative however, still persists. Dominant factor in the national politics is not only advocating but also going to an extent in negotiating terms with the TTP. The TTP on the other hand is sending messages to the masses about dishonest approach of government and intelligence agencies. The nation under influence of such narratives of appeasement towards the TTP is divided in classical pro and anti blocks.

Two extremes have been created by these narratives of different quarters.

– Factions in favor of talks and complete immunity.

– Factions in favor of operation and complete elimination of TTP, along with its sympathizers in the society.

Let us accept it, loud and clear, pro and anti blocks are still in confusion about the ideologicalbackground of the TTP and like factions.

The Anti-bloc is further divided into two confused and opposing sub blocks. One sub block consists of people who are against the religious elements altogether, thus advocating for secularism. The other sub block consists of people claiming to be from the right wing patriots, advocating an Islamic state and opposing TTP mainly because of sectarian issues, thus narrowing down the counter-terrorism activities scope and allowing a completely lose focus on its ideological and strategic implications internally and externally. Countering propaganda against Balochistan

Posted by yourpakistan on May 16, 2014

Balochistan A Patriotic Pakistani Land

By Qudsia Farhat

Opinion Maker

Detractors of Pakistan, who want to exploit the Baloch card to destabilize Pakistan on one hand, and control the resources of the strife-torn province on the other, are trying to present the Naraz (angry) Baloch as being anti-state elements. There is a clear difference between the Naraz and anti state Baloch, which must be highlighted. Naraz Baloch are patriotic Pakistanis, who have reservations over priorities set by the federal and provincial Governments of Pakistan and Balochistan. On the other hand, anti state Baloch are elements opposed to the federation of Pakistan and they have their own agenda and vested interests. Unfortunately, they are playing in the hands of foreign elements.

The Government of Pakistan is making sincere efforts to address all the issues of Naraz Baloch, to appease their reservations and bring them back into the fold of government, allocate development funds and make all out endeavours to bring Balochistan at par with the other provinces. The anti state Baloch are few in number but comprise some feudal lords, who are exploiting the situation in their own favor by defaming all Baloch. They are using every possible means to slander the government and the armed forces of Pakistan, whom they perceive to be thorns in their sides, who deter them from achieving the odious agenda of their mentors and exploiters abroad. One subterfuge, which they have successfully employed, is the case of the “missing persons”. This multi pronged ruse is being used to draw sympathy at home and abroad to their cause; denigrate the armed forces, who are being held culpable of being responsible for the “missing persons” while simultaneously using it as a diversionary tactics to undermine the actual issues of Balochistan.

The alleged human rights violation by the Pakistani Armed Forces is hearsay since nothing was proved in Supreme Court of Pakistan during missing persons’ case. A few anti state elements are creating hype on the issue of missing persons to deprecate Pakistan and its Army at national and international level to fulfill their own vested interest. They should pause and ponder. What is more important? Missing persons’ case or provision of basic amenities and the socio economic uplift of Balochistan?

It is for the ordinary Baloch, which is the target of the propaganda to see the truth through the fog of misinformation. The Arab world, which was mesmerized by the “Arab Spring” and considered it a genuine movement is only now beginning to realize that it was duped by vested interests in the Occident to establish regimes of its choice. The Egyptian youth, which was so proud of its spurring the movement to dethrone Hosni Mobarak, now finds that its sojourn at the Tahrir Square was nothing but a mirage. Their sacrifices have been hijacked by forces being backed by the West, who only wanted to replace their aging puppets, which were losing their effectiveness, by more pliant ones. Youm e Shuhada: With Pride and Confidence

Posted by yourpakistan on May 2, 2014

Surely, in this fast age of satellite technology, mind-control techniques and a 4th Generation Warfare that declares propaganda and covert action its prime weapon, it would be most naive to ask for an army that keeps to the 1st Generation veneration only.

Aneela Shahzad – PKKH

pakistan day of martyrs

The huge monument, standing tall on the ground of Soldiers Park, Aziz Bhatti Road, Lahore, is engraved with the names of so many officers and soldiers that it is difficult to find the name of the loved one you have lost in this wild War on Terror of the passing decade.

Or have you lost your loved one at all? One does imagine for a moment as to what celebration or compensation has their brother giving away his life; is this the way he is to be celebrated that his name would barely be getting a few centimeters on the extensive slab of commemoration that is to be decorated with a floral wreath every once a year? No limelight to his action, no stardom in the media cascade!

Or had he considered this girder of names so towering, as would wallop his name to the reaches of another world that is incognito to the bare human eye! What is this human sacrifice, asked of a man, when he stands at the fence between two countries, two ideologies, and between life and death; who will be that one man who will take the bullet on his chest, protecting the nation, the family and the schema of a world view behind him? Who has this man talked to when fate had eventually asked him to stand affront to the enemy and turn back not, and lay not down his arm but only his body and ready his soul for a flight? It is God that he has conversed with and it is on His name that he lets his blood soak in the soil of a land that bears the mark of acceptance of his Lord. Read the rest of this entry »
